Medical Human Factors

Rollin J. (Terry) Fairbanks, MD, MS, FACEP is Associate Professor at Georgetown University School of Medicine, and Director of the National Center for Human Factors Engineering in Healthcare, part of the MedStar Institute for Innovation. Dr. Fairbanks is a patient safety/Human Factors Engineering researcher and board certified emergency physician. His clinical practice is currently in the Washington Hospital Center’s Department of Emergency Medicine in Washington DC. Previously, he was at the University of Rochester where he conducted patient safety research and held EMS Medical Director roles.

Dr. Fairbanks has made numerous presentations on event reporting systems and their potential to contribute to systems-based improvements in patient safety.
